RADIO CRYSTALS FOR SALE

These are the crystals featured in CQ Magazine October and December 2004 issues
in the "World of Ideas" articles by Editor Dave Ingram, K4TWJ, on a "6L6 Resurrection - 2004 Style."
This is a construction project for a power oscillator transmitter using the venerable 6L6 vacuum tube.

These crystals were also featured in an 8 page technical report in ELECTRIC RADIO
magazine for May 2005 by G3UUR. Materials science expert David Gordon-Smith, G3UUR conducted
some very tough tests on these crystals using a high-powered Pierce power oscillator circuit
and discovered that some of them could withstand internal temperatures of over 200 degrees Celsius.
In some cases they can actually prove to be MORE reliable than the old World War Two era
FT243 crystals. The crystalline structure is more pure and less prone to failure.

FT243 crystals have pins spaced 1/2 inch apart, and are used in MANY ham radios made from
the 1940s through 1970s. They are also used in countless military sets such as the BC-611 and GRC-109.

Most of the FT243 crystals above are remanufactured crystals using original
WW2 era FT243 holders with a newly manufactured, HC49 or HC49US hermetically-sealed crystal
mounted inside. Like all crystals, these should not be used with a grid current
of greater than about 60 mA. They have been used successfully in many typical rigs
like the Heath DX40, HW16, DX100, Ameco AC-1, Drake 2NT, Hallicrafters HT-40, BC610,
Globe King, Homebrew power oscillators, and MOPA rigs etc.

Small metal case crystals - HC18 and HC49 have wire leads. HC25 and HC50 have pins. The pin spacing is 4.88 mm in either case.

HC6 and HC51 crystals use the same, larger metal case.

Please specify the CRYSTAL frequency(s) that you require, and the capacitance
of the load, and the operating temperature. Tolerance is usually quoted at
+/- 30 ppm or better. Typically I can supply these in the range of 3 to 60 MHz.

If they are not in stock, I can usually make these available on any one frequency as follows:

For a quantity of 1 the cost per crystal would be $65.00 each.
