A Miracle Healing of an AIDS victim From: HARVEY SMITH (MJCN) Pentecostal Evangel, Feb. 19, 1995 General Council Assemblies of G-d 1445 Boonville Ave Springfield, Mo. 65802 DELIVERED FROM AIDS AND HOMOSEXUALITY "I wanted to die", recalled Dave Conklin, 34, when the doctor told him he had tested positive for AIDS related complex and notified his parents their son was in the final stage of his life. Even though Dave suspected he had the fatal disease, the news still hit hard. For years people believed Dave was a Christian, even though by his own estimation he had sexual relations with some 1,000 men. As Dave looks back on those days now, his attempts to justify his homosexuality seem far fetched. At the time, however, he was clandestinely attending a church that supports a homosexual agenda. "My concept of Jesus Christ was real weird," said Dave. "I was good at debating logic. I thought i could control or manipulate G-d". Such attempts came to an abrupt halt when DAe suddenly collapsed in spring 1987. He was admitted to the hospital. Various tests failed to isolate what was causing Dave to faint, lose weight, and feel constant fatigue. He finally consented to an AIDS test which confirmed his worst fears. He tested positive. Dave began taking AZT, a drug that appears to delay the progression of AIDS, but can produce serious side effects. Several blackouts and seizures caused him to lose his driver's liscense. Constant fatigue, fainting spells, loss of appetite and weight sent him into depression. Hope of any kind seemed remote. But amid Dave's despair, Christ's plan for him was unfolding. In August 1988 he attended a Christian Concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before the presentation began, a woman sat next to him and asked if his name was Dave. Dave said yes and listened as she explained that during her morning devotions the L-rd told here someone named Dave had AIDS and needed help. She encouraged him to attend a drama her church, Mount Hope Assembly of G-d and International outreach center in Lansing, MIch.,was presenting Touch Felt 'Round the World", which portrays the turn of the century Pentecostal movement. Afterward, she told him, healing ministry was available to those who believed G-d could change their lives. Dave attended and responded to the altar call, receiving Christ as his Saviour. The team prayed over him. AS he became renewed in his spirit, his body began to show improvement. "I really felt love," Dave recalled. I was instantly delivered from cigarettes and alcohol. I felt happy and joyful. My thought processes cleared". Dave's appetite returned and he began to gain weight, strength and vitality. His doctors also kept seeing improvements. That's when Dave began to consider: Had he been healed of AIDS? Since he accepted Christ severl blood tests have been taken to answer that question. The last blood test he took prior to a minor operation in December 1990 indicated that while Dave once tested positive, now he doesn't. Concerned about the reaction of the medical community, DAve's doctors have declined comment on how an AIDS victim now has a clean bill of health. Christians, however, whose faith rests with the King of kings and the L-rd of lords, understand. "With man this is impossible; but with G-d all things are possible". (Matt.19:26 NIV). Dave now reverences G-d's principles. "I understand what Deuteronomy says about the blessings and curses of G-d", he said. "I understand obedience. I'm not a fanatic. I don't hate homosexuals; I hate homosexuality. If people will be set free and chane, it's all worth it. G-d is in the healing business." (Dave married in 1989 and has two stepsons and a one year old daughter). Robin Clair, asistant care pastor of Mount Hope Assembly, said, "Homosexuals are looking for answers, and Christ is the only answer. We have six people in our church who were homosexuals and have changed their lifestyles and are living victoriously. The power of G-d is there to heal homosexuals if they're willing to change their lifestyles and trust Him.
